The Akimbo is a light, compact friction device that allows climbers to ascend, descend, and position themselves on fixed or movable rope systems without changing gear.
The Akimbo accepts a wide range of rope sizes (between 11.5 and 13 mm) and can be used for both SRT and DRT climbing.
The friction adjusts easily without tools. The bollards adjust to increase or decrease friction to adapt to the different rope diameters, climber’s weight, wear on the contact surfaces, and changes in the environment.
The Akimbo opens easily to remove or install a rope mid-line in seconds without detaching from the harness.
For SRT ascents, a connection point facilitates quick metallic or textile connections by way of an innovative wire gate.
